MELBOURNE

Melbourne, Australia has been named as the “world’s most livable city” for five years in a row, having reached a near-perfect score on the EI/Economist Intelligence Unit’s livability survey that covers 140 cities worldwide. The survey rates cities on their education and health care, as well as the stability of the infrastructure and environment.

The city is full of culture and activity, including the incredible Melbourne Cricket Ground, which is one of the most iconic sports stadiums in the entire world, as well as the home of cricket in Australia itself. Also in sports, the city is host to the Melbourne Cup, the biggest horse race in the entire world.

Just outside of Melbourne is the Great Ocean Road, one of the most breathtaking drives in the world. And the road will lead you right to the beach, where you can enjoy time on the sand or swimming in the water. Another escape near Melbourne is the Esplanade in St. Kilda, which provides a long walk along the iconic bay.

Not to leave out the rich culture of Melbourne, the city is full of street art, theater, as well as amazing and diverse cuisine. As the city has a Greek influence, one of the most common, and delicious, foods to discover is the souvlaki, a pita which is filled with lamb, vegetables, and French fries.  The coffee is also noteworthy and practically an art form in itself.

Melbourne is a city to experience and a wonderful place to live. The culture, set with the beautiful scenery and fun people, makes Melbourne a truly unique place you will never want to leave.
