The city is full of culture and activity, including the incredible Melbourne Cricket Ground, which is one of the most iconic sports stadiums in the entire world, as well as the home of cricket in Australia itself. Also in sports, the city is host to the Melbourne Cup, the biggest horse race in the entire world.
Just outside of Melbourne is the Great Ocean Road, one of the most breathtaking drives in the world. And the road will lead you right to the beach, where you can enjoy time on the sand or swimming in the water. Another escape near Melbourne is the Esplanade in St. Kilda, which provides a long walk along the iconic bay.
Not to leave out the rich culture of Melbourne, the city is full of street art, theater, as well as amazing and diverse cuisine. As the city has a Greek influence, one of the most common, and delicious, foods to discover is the souvlaki, a pita which is filled with lamb, vegetables, and French fries.
